Missions Ministry
Welcome to GCCC's Missions Ministry, GLOW!
GLOW stands for GCCC Local Outreach & World Missions. GLOW seeks to forge relationships cross-culturally by witnessing to people of all nations from the Greater Washington DC area to the ends of the earth. Just as in our church's namesake, Jesus commands us in Matthew 28:19-20, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the ends of the age." As the ministry name implies, we desire to be the salt and light to the darkness that exists all across the Earth.
The GLOW ministry look forward to training and leading members of the church to make disciples through six ways: learn, pray, go, send, welcome, and mobilize.
GLOW is comprised of two approaches:
- Local Outreach
- Global Missions
The Local Outreach component of GLOW works with several ministries in the greater DC area. Two of our ongoing partnerships is with Casa Chirilagua and Carpenter's Shelter. Casa Chirilagua is a Christian faith-based non-profit that seeks to develop relationships with families in the Chirilagua neighborhood of Alexandria, VA. It provides an after-school program for kids, services for women, and other resources for those of immigrant background. Carpenter's Shelter, also located in Alexandria, VA, is a services, education, and advocacy group for homelessness in the greater DC area. Volunteer opportunities for both organizations are ongoing throughout the year.

For the Global Missions program, several members have been involved in missions trips, including medical missions to Nicaragua and Sierra Leone. Others have done holistic ministry in El Salvador and Ecuador. This year, the Global Missions program would like to seek to establish a long term partnership with an unreached people group somewhere in the world. As of now, two members will travel to Israel and Jordan in April 2012 on a vision/inspiration trip. Now the LORD said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.”
Genesis 12:1-2
